Three Rondavels
The Three Rondavels is located in the Blyde River Canyon on the Panorama Route in Mpumalanga.
Driving from God's Window in a northerly direction, on your way to Blyde River Canyon is the three Rondavels. The natural rock formation on the edge of the Blyde River Canyon were named after the Bapedi chief, Maripi Mashile's (also where the close by Mariepskop gets its name from) three wives; Maseroto Magabolie and Magoladikwe.
These three fascinating geological formations were formed when the soft underlying stone eroded to leave slate and quartzite in the shape of three large huts. It is said that the three rondavels portray the evolution of the traditional African hut with the earlier basic one being on the left.
